Tales of Tel'Palurin: Chains of Betrayal
The Prime Material Plane
Tel’Palurin literally translates into “The World” in ancient Elvish. It is the construct of the Gods’ need to create and rule, and is home to the vast majority of the Astral Sea’s mortal inhabitants. The foundation of the plane was laid by the Forgelord Haemar, who built the structure of the world out of the pure energies of the elemental founts. The Namacharus painted the energies of the elements, life and growth onto the canvas Haemar provided, creating the basis for the plane today.
During the Succession War the primordial known as The Agony Which Bathes in Destruction broke through the lines of the fledgling gods and tore large chunks from Tel’Palurin, casting them into the Astral Sea. The spaces left by the rent pieces of the plane were filled with water to create the vast oceans occupying much of the plane, while the masses themselves, and the peoples living upon them, were forever altered by the pure elemental grasp of the primordial being. The grasp of The Agony Which Bathes in Destruction’s left hand tainted the shroud of the land, darkening it, and the piece became the moon Umbra, the Shadowfell. The other, a place of fey energy and natural beauty, became overcharged with the power of growth and vitality. The plants, animals and inhabitants became far more keenly attuned to the energy of nature, and the moon Faerus, the Feywild, was born.
